Why Ada?
Our contact address — ada@cognik.no — is a small nod to Ada Lovelace, who saw that a machine could do far more than arithmetic a full century before anyone built one.
The first programmer
In the 1840s, Ada Lovelace worked on Charles Babbage's proposed Analytical Engine and wrote what is now recognised as the first algorithm meant to be run by a machine. Her real leap, though, was conceptual: she understood that such a machine could work with symbols of any kind — music, language, logic — and not only with numbers. She imagined general-purpose computing before there was a computer to prove her right.
Why it resonates today
Modern AI systems are the long echo of that idea: machines that reason over language, images, and concepts. We find that history grounding. It is a reminder that the interesting part of technology has always been what it lets people think and make, not the hardware underneath.
